Two new nesting sites for the Caribbean Flamingo, Phoenicopterus ruber (Phoenicopteriformes: Phoenicopteridae), in northwestern Dominican Republic

Abstract
We report two new nesting sites for the Caribbean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) within Parque Nacional Manglares de Estero Balsa in northwestern Dominican Republic. The first site, Laguna Manolo, was inactive at the time of the survey in 2022 and yielded 84 nesting mounds and approximately 200 fledged juvenile flamingos. The second site in 2023, Laguna Atravesada, was fully active at the time of the survey and yielded 305 nesting mounds and a creche of 166 recently hatched chicks.
