First report of the fish Amphilophus citrinellus (Perciformes: Cichlidae) in natural water bodies for the Dominican Republic
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
The ornamental fish species Amphilophus citrinellus (Günther, 1864) is reported for the first time in natural water bodies for the Dominican Republic, living naturally in the Hatillo dam, Sánchez Ramírez province. Nine specimens were collected, and meristic characters were used for their identification. The intentional introduction of this highly invasive potential species into this body of water is presumed.
