Abstract

The Connecticut Warbler (Oporornis agilis) is a species of neotropical migratory bird. Literature and distribution maps published by eBird suggest that the species uses the Caribbean region during the autumn and spring migration. The island of Cuba only has a report of the species in the northern keys of Ciego de Ávila and Camagüey. A male individual was caught in fog nets at the Juan Christoph Gundlach Permanent Banding Station, located in the Siboney Juticí Ecological Reserve, in the municipality of Santiago de Cuba, Santiago de Cuba province, in Cuba. This is the first report of this species in the eastern part of Cuba. The lack of sightings of Connecticut Warbler in Cuba can be conditioned by two factors mainly: the low density of individuals on the island during migration or the possible confusion of Cuban ornithologists with similar species.
