About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Novitates Caribaea is a biannual scientific publication (January and July), edited and financed by the National Museum of Natural History “Prof. Eugenio de Jesus Marcano.” We publish original content, in the form of articles and notes, reserving the possibility of including, by invitation, book reviews or articles for public outreach that contribute in a clear and effective way to updating knowledge in a discipline; these last two publication types will be placed in a separate section when they are included in an issue. The topical scope of Novitates Caribaea encompasses three major areas: zoology, paleobiology and geology, covering disciplines such as: systematics, taxonomy, biogeography, evolution, genetics, molecular biology, embryology, behavior, ecology, comparative and stratigraphic anatomy, among others. Regardless of the topic, the geographical scope of the journal is focused solely on the Caribbean, especially the Antilles. Priority will be given to content dealing with the biodiversity and natural history of Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti). The journal guarantees that at least 70% of the contents included in each issue will be from authors who are not employed by the publishing institution.

Novitates Caribaea is indexed in the following Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science) platform products: Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Zoological Record, Biological Abstracts and BIOSIS Previews (Master Journal List).
